Federation of Security and Defence Industries of Latvia: cluster development plan and project application
One of the most important tasks in drafting the project proposal for the project call announced under the activity “Cluster programme” of the specific objective “To increase the proportion of the export of high value-added products and services” of the EU Structural Funds was to assist the Federation of Security and Defence Industries of Latvia (FSDI Latvia) in preparing the cluster development strategy, which would be impossible without active participation of the members of the Federation.
Several workshops were organised to engage the participants in defining development directions. We used creative approaches and methods to define the problems and advantages of the industry, identify the target markets, specialisation and activities of the cluster and to prepare SWOT analysis.
Involvement of members in this planning process allowed us to prepare a development strategy and project proposal that matched their interests and secured the support from the EU Structural Funds in the amount of 400,000 euros.
