Videos about the importance of the EU SILC survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau

Data from the survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau is basis for many decisions concerning people welfare. But obtaining of this data is complicated, since not all the addressed people wish to participate in surveys. To raise the survey response rate, three videos were prepared in late 2021 to explain the meaning of EU SILC survey and to reduce concerns for the participants.

Have you ever thought where do politicians and officials obtain data from to take decisions on benefits, pensions, and other types of support? They use different public registers and databases of the State Revenue Service, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, the Land Register, and many more. Large portion of these data is provided by the Central Statistical Bureau, a State institution that collects the official statistics about employment, entrepreneurship, unemployment, welfare, and that conducts several surveys every year.

But where does the Central Statistical Bureau obtain data? Big portion of these data is provided by people who participate in the surveys organised by the Bureau. Therefore, response rate is very important. One of such significant surveys is the annual survey on income and living conditions (EU SILC).

Unfortunately, not always people who have been invited to participate in such surveys participate actually. There are various reasons for that. Among others, also concerns regarding data confidentiality, lack of belief that this data would be actually used when taking decisions, many think that all information can already be obtained from other sources, registers.
