Are vaccines experimental? Do they affect the reproductive health? Do vaccines damage the human immune system? How do different vaccines work and how do they differ? Which information is true and can one belief one’s neighbour? The Latvian inhabitants had many questions and doubts about vaccines and vaccination.
To clarify these and other questions, the Ministry of Education and Science initiated and we developed four videos to dispel the most popular myths. The questions were answered by the new scientists from the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre who work on developing new vaccines and study the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus mutation in Latvia.
In each video, the scientists explain the complicated process of vaccine development and composition in simple words illustrated with animations. These videos were then used by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and other institutions to explain the importance of vaccination.
Videos were also published on ‘Delfi’, which is one of the largest new portals in Latvia, and shown on the Latvian Television.
